The Update Process
Hero Tools has a built-in update process which makes it easy to install new/updated versions.
Here are the update instructions:
- Click the Settings button on the Hero Tools tab. Then click the About tab on the left sidebar and click the Check for Update button. See screenshot.
- Click Yes on the popup window that tells you an update is available.
- The new add-in file will download and install automatically. Once the install is complete, you must close and re-open Excel to start using the new updated version.
You can check the Version number in the About tab of the Settings window to make sure you are on the latest version.
The latest version number is: 002
Note: You must be connected to the internet to update the add-in.
What About My Saved Settings?
The update process should retain your saved settings. Most of these settings are stored on your computer.
However, some settings (like Formatting Shortcuts) are stored in the add-in file. Those settings are exported from your existing add-in and imported to the new one during the update process.
Please let us know if your settings are not retained after the installation process.
